Troubleshooting
If your Intellipure® unit is making an unusual noise, please contact us at info@truaq.com and a TruAQ representative to help troubleshoot your device.
1. Check power connection: See if the unit is plugged into a working AC outlet and the rear receptacle of the unit.
2. Check front cover: see if the unit’s front cover is inplace, the front cover should be tightly shut.
3. Check if the fuse is blown.
4. Contact info@truaq.com.
The DFS light typically comes on if the HEG (high energy grid) is not clean or if there isn't a good connection in the system, the HEG, and the main filter. Remove the front grille, the HEG and wipe the electrical contacts, metal plate with holes and wires gently with a lint-free/microfiber cloth and re-test the system.
Does everything work fine now? If so, great! If the DFS light continues to turn off and turn red, please try the following steps:
1. Unplug the system.
2. Remove the front grille, the HEG, and the main filter.
3. Leaving the main filter out, reinstall the HEG. This can be a little tricky since the HEG doesn’t have the main filter in thereto press up against and line things up. Just make sure the HEG post and electrical tab on the bottom are connected and you will notice there is a little “slot” in the top, a middle area where the grey lever goes into to secure the HEG. Then, just adjust the HEG so that the bottom and top are straight, even, and pulled to the front as far as possible.
4. Put the front grille on.
5. Plug the system in and turn it on.
6. Does the DFS stay on/backlit in white OR does the DFS turn off/turn red?
If this still doesn't work please contact TruAQ at info@truaq.com.
1. Unplug the machine and then plug it back in
2. When the initial sequence of lights flashes across the touchpad, unplug the machine immediately before it can finish flashing.
3. Afterward, you can plug the unit in again and this timeallow it to finish the sequence.
4. After coming back on your power button should be illuminated with a dim blue light
5. The machine may now be turned back on with the power button.
If your unit still isn't working, please contact support.
The DFS light can be turned on or off by pressing the button. Sometimes it can be accidentally turned off so try pressing the DFS button to toggle it back on.
Compact
If you notice that your DFS light is flashing after you have changed your filters, don't panic. This light acts as a reminder to clean and change your filters and you most likely have to reset the timer. To reset the flashing light, simply put the machine on medium speed and hold the power button for 5-7 seconds. These instructions can also be found on the back of the machine.

This typically means that the filter timer was not set properly. It can happen when the 1, 2, or 3 buttons are pressed either too long or too hard. A hard reset should fix this as long as the touchpad has not been damaged from being pressed too hard, thus deforming the capacitive layer.
Technology
Yes, Intellipure® air purifiers are effective at removing particles and airborne chemicals that are created by wildfire smoke. DFS technology can remove and eliminate ash and soot from the indoor air caused by wildfires. This includes odors created by wildfire smoke.
Wildfire smoke primarily consists of water vapor, ultrafine particles, and dangerous gases. These gases commonly include carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide nitrogen oxide, and Volatile Organic Compounds(VOC's). The exact composition of wildfire smoke can vary based on changes like the temperature, what is burning, and the wind.
According to Environment Canada, smoke from wildfires is adversely affecting air quality and potentially putting more people at health risk from smoke exposure. To learn more about wildfire smoke from the Environment Canada website, click here.
Intellipure® air purifiers are very effective at removing odours from the air. The innovative VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) adsorption filters are made to remove fumes, solvents, cleansers, and other VOCs.
In response to the COVID-19 Pandemic, Intellipure® hasconducted a series of tests to show the efficiency of DFS technology on thecapture and permanent removal of airborne viruses and bacteria.
World-renowned Infection Control expert and an advisor tothe U.S. EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) and the World Health Organization, Dr. Syed Sattar, conducted his studies in a chamber that was built to follow U.S. EPA guidelines.
DFS technology was proven to remove from the air a proxy virus for SARS-CoV-2 (RNA virus MS2)1: The results of this data show 99.987%elimination in 10 minutes of the surrogate which is .03 micron in size. Thetest also showed that there was 100% elimination in 45 minutes and again 100%at 24 hours indicating no reintroduction of the proxy virus.
Yes, your air purifier will work if placed in the same room as a dehumidifier. We recommend that you don't place them directly next to each other.
Intellipure® air purifiers are certified with the Zero Ozone Verification by Intertek and are part of the Intertek Sustainability program. You can find information about the certification by searching the Intertek Sustainability Directory.
DFS, or “electrically enhanced/stimulated air filtration” technology was developed through a U.S. military grant. It has been rigorously lab-tested and has been proven to remove 99.99% at 0.007(µm). DFS technology also guarantees greater lifetime performance.
Each unit is individually tested with a class 1 laser particle counter and is certified to exceed traditional HEPA filtration providing the highest level of ultrafine particle and virus removal.
The DFS high energy field creates a self‐contained, highly energized state in the main filter that clusters ultrafine particles to make them larger, allowing the main filter to effectively capture ultrafine particles.
The DFS continually creates high energy exposure through the pleats and fibers of the main filter. This prevents organism growth in the main filter and prevents live organisms from escaping back into the air.
When using an Intellipure® air purifier, you may notice that your air smells fresher than ever before. Your indoor air can be 5 to 100 times more polluted when not using an air purifier. When those pollutants are removed from your environment, you experience nothing but, clean fresh air.

A MERV rating, also known as a Minimum Efficiency Reporting Values, reports a filter’s ability to capture particles between 0.3 and 10 microns (µm). This value is helpful in comparing the performance of different filters. The higher the MERV rating the better the filter is at trapping specific types of particles.
MERV Rating Average Particle Size Efficiency in Microns
MERV Rating | Average Particle Size Efficiency in Microns |
1-4 | 3.0 – 10.0 less then 20% |
6 | 3.0 – 10.0: 49.9% |
8 | 3.0 – 10.0: 84.9% |
10 | 1.0 – 3.0: 50% – 64.9%, 3.0 – 10.0: 85% or greater |
12 | 1.0 – 3.0: 80% – 89.9%, 3.0 – 10.0: 90% or greater |
14 | 0.3 – 1.0: 75% – 85%, 1.0 – 3.0: 90% or greater |
16 | 0.3 – 1.0: 95% or greater |

The term ultrafine particles (UFPs) refers to airborne particulate matter smaller than 0.1 micron in diameter (sometimes called PM0.1). Some UFPs measure as small as 0.003 microns.
UFPs are considered among the most dangerous particle pollutants due to their small size, which allows them to be breathed into the lungs and pass into the bloodstream through the lungs.
Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) refers to the air quality within and around buildings and structures, especially as it relates to the health and comfort of building occupants. Understanding and controlling common pollutants indoors can help reduce your risk of indoor health concerns. Health effects from indoor air pollutants may be experienced soon after exposure or possibly years later.
You certainly can, though it should be noted that most candles and incense pollute the air. While your Intellipure air purifier will mitigate the impact of this, for the cleanest air avoid all but the most pure, natural candle sources like unscented beeswax or soy.
A micron, also known as (µm), is a small unit of measurement that measures length. It is another name for micrometer, which is one-thousandth of a millimeter, or one-millionth of a metre. Airborne particles are usually measured in microns.
Generally speaking, the human eye can see debris and dust that are approximately 25 microns in size. Particles smaller than 0.3 microns are considered to be ultrafine particles. Ultrafine particles penetrate deep into the lungs. The concentration of these particles is higher, making them harder for the lungs to deal with, leading to inflammation.
Ultrafine particles are small enough to enter the cells inthe body and end up in the bloodstream, potentially causing heart and brain diseases. Children, elderly people, and people with respiratory issues like asthma are especially vulnerable to ultrafine particle air pollution.
